FAQ Subject: Converting a galvanized tank into a smoker

I have a 120 galvanized steel water tank that I was thinking of converting to a smoker. i have been told that it is not safe to use galvanized. Is this true?

Hi Richard,

Zinc, used to galvanize, is a deadly toxin that begins to gas at below 500° degrees. Leave it alone.
