FAQ Subject: Can you smoke with honey locust?

Can you use honey locust to smoke with? If so what kind of a taste will one get? A friend of mine thought it was a cousin to mesquite.

Hi Jeff,

Welcome to the club. Honey locust and mesquite are both members of the Legume family. As for as flavor, don't expect it to be like honey; that comes from the flowers. Locust is one of the few hardwoods that I have not tried. If you do, let me know how it comes out.

Luck,
Smoky
