FAQ Subject: Best tip for restoring rusted grill grates

It's time to rejuvenate the grill after a mossy winter here in Oregon, can you give me the best tip for restoring rusted grill grates? Oven cleaner?

Thanks,
Jeff
Wilsonville, OR

HI Jeff,

Best way to start is to brush off all the loose stuff, rinse it with a water hose, then fire it up. That will dry everything up and arrest the rust. After heating, the grates should clean up with a brushing. If not, use an oven cleaner (carefully following makers recommendations) Afterward, rinse very well.

The secret to keeping it clean is to use it.

Have fun,
Smoky
